As the end draws near for two of the most popular characters in Doctor Who, the cast and crew assembled in New York to begin filming their final scenes.
Karen Gillan, who plays Amy Pond, and Arthur Darvill, who plays Rory Williams, were seen in Central Park today running through their lines and sharing a kiss for what may be their last intimate moment as Doctor Who's companions.
Leading actor Matt Smith, who plays the 11th incarnation of the Doctor, said last week that the departure of Amy Pond and Rory Williams would be 'incredible', and that looks to be exactly the case.

The storyline for the departure of married couple Rory and Amy is still unknown but it looks set to be an emotional send-off.

In one scene, we see a disgusted looking Doctor watch as Amy and Rory share a lingering kiss in the middle of the park, as the trio enjoy a picnic together.
The production company has spared no expense for the episode and decided to film near the Duck Pond in Central Park instead of just shooting in a studio in England.
Matt, 29, looked great as the time traveller and sported slicked back hair with a side parting and wore his trademark bow-tie with a tweed blazer.

Karen's Amy looked rather studious in a pair of round rim glasses as she sat back to back with the Doctor and read a newspaper.
Even with her long flaming red hair falling over face, she still looked great as she ran through dialogue with Smith for the BBC show.
It wasn't all hard work and no play for the three leads, however, as they took five minutes to break away from filming to play with a small dog that managed to run on set.

The cold weather must have been difficult for the actors to deal with, especially as they spent most of the time sitting on cold stone while practising their lines.
Both Karen and Matt were wrapped up in big jackets to help keep them warm and they only removed their coats when the cameras were rolling.
The large number of cast and crew in the park drew a lot of attention from passers-by and it didn't take long for fans of the show to talk about them on Twitter.
One person said: 'Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill are in New York. My babies, oh. <3'.

In a interview with The Independent, last week, Matt spoke about how excited he was to be filming episode 5 of the seventh series of Doctor Who.
He said: 'It’s really great. We’ve some exciting episodes, and we did the read-throughs for episodes one and five, and they are both extremely extraordinary.'
He added: '[I am] really, really pleased with them, so if we get them right, the Ponds' final hour could be incredible.'

It is rumoured that filming will also take place on The Statue of Liberty, which has helped create some considerable buzz across the Atlantic.
While fans will say goodbye to Karen and Arthur, they can rest assured that Matt has no intention of dropping out of the show.
He told the newspaper: 'I've got another series to make.
'We've got the 50th anniversary. We've got a Christmas special, so I've got loads of Who to do yet.'
