What Katy Did: Miss Perry gives fans a teaser glimpse of her behind-the-scenes 3D documentary Part of Me in first official trailer

Despite her highly-publicised divorce and being one of the most sought after pop stars, Katy Perry is one celebrity who likes to keep herself as private as possible.
But with her fans itching to know more about the Californian girl and what she is like when the pop star persona comes off, the singer has decided to give them a taste of her life in her upcoming documentary Part of Me.
And they won't be left disappointed, especially if the first official trailer is anything to go by, which was released today and sees Miss Perry baring all to the camera as well as scenes of her on stage, backstage and in quiet, reflective moments.


Due for release this summer, the documentary was filmed during her California Dreams world tour, which began in Portugal in February 2011 and finished in the Philippines in January to promote her third album Teenage Dreams.
With interviews with her friends, family and crew, a little more about the fun-loving pop star comes to light.



She also opens up about her childhood, her struggle with religion and trying to catch a break in the music industry as various headlines about her lifer flash up, including her divorce from comedian Russell Brand.
The footage shows her at her most vibrant on stage, her most vulnerable off it and is intertwined with scenes from her music videos, including California Gurls, Waking Up in Vegas and Teenage Dream.
And she talks about her Christian upbringing and wanting to be a singer all her life as she reveals: 'The atmosphere I grew up in was 100% Christian. I started signing in church... I never really had another plan.'



Her friends and family then explain that she wasn't an overnight pop success and revealed that she was signed to a label which then dropped her and she was written off by the industry.
She said: 'I was going through some depressing, dark times. But it's a journey and I've learned so much from that journey.
'I'm feel like a stronger, better person because of it.'



But Katy has had the last laugh and as one friend, whose voice can be heard at the opening of the trailer, put it: 'Katy's just an explosion. She just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger.'
Another says: 'It's always about the challenge. What are people saying she can't do? That's what she does next. Every song has something to do with her life.'
And another adds: 'She outworks everyone. I honestly don't know how she does it.'



And as the trailer comes to an end and fades to black, Perry says: 'If you have a dream, you're going to go on a journey to fulfill that dream.'
She recently spoke to MTV News about the movie, and said it was a fitting end to the tour and promoting the album.


She said: 'It's closing the chapter on Teenage Dream, but it's giving you such an inside perspective.
'This film, you're going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you're going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything.'

'I've [worked on] most of this film for a very long time and the word "cheap" was not in the vocabulary.
'But, hello, it's 3-D. You're going to get hit with a lot of sh**.'
