Stunned: Louis Walsh is fuming after Cheryl Cole blasted him for not managing Girls Aloud properly
The 59-year-old Irish star has hit back at Cheryl's claims that he 'never managed' Girls Aloud and 'just took a cheque' saying: 'I've no idea why she's made these comments but, in my eyes, it says a lot about her.'
Louis' response comes after the 28-year-old pop star spoke about the girl band's big break during an interview with Marie Claire magazine.
During the interview with the glossy magazine, the Fight For This Love singer went on to say that Girls Aloud reached their success on their own after winning the ITV1 show Popstars in 2002.
'We never had management. Louis claimed to be our manager but he never did it,' she said.
'We didn't talk to him or anything like that. He just took a cheque.
'Literally, we didn't have management.'
Outspoken: Cheryl's claimed in an interview that Louis just took the cheque but never properly managed the band when after they won reality show Popstars: The Rivals
'I was always the first to defend her on the X Factor, and always watched her back' Walsh said.
'I won't stand for anyone criticising me professionally and if I was in London right now I'd give her a piece of my mind.'
'Our friendship is over': Louis said that he was always the first to defend Cheryl on the X Factor
The former manager of Westlife also said that Girls Aloud were a 'nightmare' to manage and he found working with boy bands easier.
He said at the time: 'Girls are high maintenance, it’s easier to manage boy bands — less hairspray, less make-up, less baggage.'
After winning the reality show bandmember Kimberley Walsh revealed: 'Louis didn’t speak to us for the first two weeks we were a band.
'We tried to create a relationship with him but he didn’t respond. There are only so many times you’ll ring before giving up.
Did it all on their own: Cheryl claims that her and her band mates (L-R) Nadine Coyle, Kimberly Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts were not managed by Louis
'We worked solely with the record company and basically managed ourselves.'Cheryl also added in the interview that it was Walsh who pushed the that girl group 'to lose weight.'
'Louis had come out publicly and said: "They're all fat. They all need to lose weight." And the record label sent us all to have training,' she explained.
'Now I talk to him because I get that business is business and that's how he runs his - but he never chose a hit. Who chose them? Us.'
Despite Louis publicly declaring that he would support Cheryl if she returned to the X Factor in the UK, she clearly isn't bothered about having burned bridges.
'X Factor was a great experience and time in my life and career but is now part of my past,' she wrote on Twitter.
