Strip off on the beach? I'm too shy says Keira (despite the sex scenes on screen)

At the last count, around three million cinema goers have seen topless Keira Knightley having her bottom spanked in A Dangerous Method.
So it might come as a bit of a surprise for some of them to learn that the star says she is so 'incredibly shy' about her body that she can't strip off on a beach.
Astonishingly for the face of Chanel, Miss Knightley also claims she's self-conscious about her 'bad skin'.


The 27-year-old puts her hang-ups down to the fact that everything is magnified on the big screen and she finds herself focusing on 'the bits you don't particularly like'.
She said: 'Do I sometimes feel incredibly shy about going out even in a bathing costume into a swimming pool?



'Yeah, actually, I do. I was on the beach the other day … with some friends. They were all totally fine taking everything off and I was sitting around in my jeans and a top.



'I kind of didn't want to take anything off.'


Since finding fame with her role as a teenage footballer in Bend It Like Beckham, Miss Knightley has successfully wooed Hollywood.
She can currently be seen playing the highly sexual patient-turned-analyst Sabina Spielrein in A Dangerous Method, which depicts the turbulent relationship between psychiatrist Carl Jung, his mentor Sigmund Freud, and Sabina.



Speaking to Interview magazine about the film's explicit sex scenes, Miss Knightley mused: '...At a certain point, I've had to get over my own body anxiety issues so it doesn't get in the way of telling the story.'
The actress, who also strips down to a swimsuit in Atonement, insisted: 'I've never seen myself as being attractive in that glamorous way.
'I'm incredibly self-conscious about the fact that I get bad skin.'
