Karen Gillan goes out with a bang - literally! Doctor Who star is seen wielding a gun in a teaser trailer for the upcoming series

They may have to wait until later this year to watch it, but Doctor Who fans can keep their appetites fed with the latest teaser trailer of the upcoming series.
Released by the BBC today, the clip shows the Doctor - played by Matt Smith - and his companions on a Wild West adventure.
The episode is expected to run in autumn along with another five as part of the seventh series.

And judging by the trailer, fans of the show can expect much more action and mayhem from their favourite characters.
The Doctor is seen coming face-to-face with a scary-looking enemy who is disguised as a cowboy before telling everyone to 'run!'
The montage of the upcoming drama will be bittersweet for fans of the show who are no doubt looking forward to the latest instalment but sad to see Karen Gillan in her last episodes.

The Scottish redhead, who plays Amy Pond in the hit show, announced late last year that she would be leaving the show and it seems she may be going out with a bang - literally.
Facing the Doctor himself, Amy says to him: 'You've clearly been taking stupid lessons since I last saw you,' before accidentally letting a gun go off in her hand.
A U.S. character is then seen asking 'everyone who is not American' to drop their guns.

The action-packed scenes were shot in the southern Spanish town of Almeria on its famous desert lots.
The location has been used as a set for more than 100 films, including The Magnificent Seven and A Fistful Of Dollars, due to its Western-style streets and houses, so no doubt the latest series will follow in the footsteps of success.
One thing that is certainly successful is Smith's horse-riding, as the actor shows off his skills throughout the episode.

However, there's a hint that the Doctor may not be enjoying his new surroundings too much as he states: 'Give me a Dalek any day!'
Pond and her co-star Arthur Darvill - who plays Rory Williams - will leave the Doctor's side in the fifth episode of the series which will be filmed in New York and feature the Weeping Angels - an ancient race of aliens.
New star of the show, Jenna-Louise Coleman, will make her debut in this year's Christmas special and in eight episodes that will air in 2013 with showrunner Steven Moffat promising further instalments later in the show's 50th anniversary year.
'There'll be more episodes than just those eight,' Moffat told Digital Spy recently. 'But these are the ones we're making right now.'
