An Elementary mistake? Lucy Liu joins Jonny Lee Miller on the set of latest Sherlock Holmes adaptation

There is something eerily familiar about the idea of a modern take on the character of Sherlock Holmes.
And it remains to be seen whether the gimmick of having Lucy Liu play a female version of Dr Watson will be enough to be compelling viewing.
The Kill Bill star was spotted for the first time on the set of Elementary in New York today with Jonny Lee Miller, who is playing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary sleuth.

But given the BBC have already made the similar Sherlock, which starred Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, it is unclear at the moment what new elements the CBS adaptation will bring to the table.
Making matters even more difficult for the show is the recent success Guy Ritchie's typically styled version, which features Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law.
But there is one thing that could help pique viewers interest - Lucy, 43, is certainly easier on the eye than the previous incumbents of the Watson role.

And she certainly looked in fine form as she crossed the road in Manhattan with her co-star, wearing her ensemble of long raincoat, woollen sweater, boots and short skirt well.
However she may not look as good for long if she keeps tucking into hot dogs.
The actress was spotted gazing lovingly at a tasty treat after buying one for herself and her co-star at a street side fast food stall.
No doubt a studious physician such as Dr Watson would disapprove of such a dietary choice in this day and age.
