It's not very often that a fashion party is held solely to celebrate the launch of a new pair of tights.

But Donna Air and Jameela Jamil got into the spirit of the night by donning a fishnet style in honour of the night.

Air, 32, showed off her very slender frame beneath a black fishnet top which she wore with a pair of rolled-up jeans and just a strapless black bra underneath.

And she teamed the outfit with a red handbag and black Christian Louboutin black heeled boots.

T4 presenter Jamil, 26, looked very spring-like in her bright yellow jacket which she wore with a black skirt, sheer blouse and fishnet tights.

The girls were joined by pop star Eliza Doolittle, who also looked very seasonal in her bright orange dress.

She looked like she was ready for a game of tennis as she posed for the cameras with a backpack and pink floral trainers which she wore with lacy ankle socks.

Tights were also the order of the night for singer Paloma Faith, who wore a very decorative pair that had flowers running up them from ankle to thigh.

TV presenter Zara Martin also opted for fishnets while her Irish TV presenter friend Laura Whitmore went for something a little more eye catching in bright orange tights with big black spots.

But if any of the ladies had an accident which would have resulted in a ladder, they would have been hard pressed to swap with any of the tights being launched.

Because last night a new trend was being set by the fashion designer as he launched his new range of pantyhose - for men.

The Italian, who is best known for his hosiery collections, was showing off his new creation, dubbed 'mantyhose', can be worn by women too but have proved popular among his male customers.

And last night he brought his look to the UK with the party at Londoni's Sketch where guests were served cocktails and mini burgers.

Francesco Cavallini, the vice-president of the Florence-based company Emilio Cavallini, told Women's Wear Daily last week that men in Europe wear tights with shorts and ''for warmth under pants during cold weather months and also at home to lounge around in'.

Lisa Cavallini, Francesco's sister added: 'The unisex tights are mainly black-and-white, but I believe the men buying these tights want to make a fashion statement.'
