She's appeared in several popular British television programmes but now Freema Agyeman has crossed the pond.

The 33-year-old actress was spotted on the set of The Carrie Diaries in Manhattan yesterday and looked rather pleased to be there.

It was announced earlier this month that Agyeman would take on the role of Larissa in the Sex and the City prequel.

The pretty star will portray a 'an easy-going party girl who works at Interview magazine,' and will no doubt be putting on her best American accent.

With the TV series following everyone's favourite journalist, Carrie Bradshaw, as she makes a name for herself in the Big Apple, the fashion is certainly going to be interesting.

Agyeman looked the epitome of the eighties wearing a pair of electric blue harem pants with a buttercup yellow coat that featured large shoulder pads.

The actress' look was completed with a pair of strappy leopard-print heels and large pink earrings.

Her style certainly complimented the description of her character as a 'hip, cutting-edge editor,' who is also Carrie's mentor.

AnnaSophia Robb, who takes on the role of Carrie, was also spotted on set and filmed a scene with Agyeman.

The pair were seen embracing outside fashion store Century 21, where Carrie had clearly been shopping judging by the small carrier bag she was holding.

Robb looked just as stylish wearing a vintage-looking blouse tucked into a pair of black culottes which she teamed with a pair of patent heels.

The blonde star was carrying an unusual bag that featured her name and a paint-splattered design and wore her hair in Carrie's trademark curly style.

Fans of the upcoming show recently got a taste of what's to come after Warner Brothers released a promotional picture of Robb.

Despite the majority of the Candace Bushnell's prequel novel taking place in the cosy Connecticut suburbs where Carrie was raised with an overprotective father and two younger sisters, the backdrop shows a hustling and bustling New York City and Robb is wearing an outfit that would certainly make Sarah Jessica Parker proud.

Robb has already received the seal of approval from Parker, who played the older version of the fictional fashion icon for six seasons on HBO and in two Sex and the City feature films.

'She sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too,' Robb told Us Weekly. 'She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!'

Agyeman is no doubt loving her role on the show Doctor Who's companion Martha Jones in the BBC series up until 2010 and playing a crown prosecutor in Law & Order: UK.

A show insider recently revealed: 'This is the biggest role of Freema's career. She's done fabulously well to get it due to some very strong competition.'
