Good girl gone bad: A tattooed, dirt-covered Rihanna plays with big guns in Battleship movie poster

Although it's been said that art imitates life, art is imitating art in Rihanna's case.
The 24-year-old singer seems to be channelling two of her own songs - Good Girl Gone Bad and Hard - in the international poster for her big screen movie debut.
She certainly looks tough, though still beautiful, in the snap.

The Bajan beauty is covered in dirt and devoid of her usual glamorous hair, nails or accoutrements.
Instead, she trades in her bling and expensive purses for a machine gun, and designer duds for army fatigues.
Her character's love of tattoos has remained the same, though.

She sports a full arm of ink in the poster, including a skull and crossbones.
In reality, the singer has fourteen tattoos, including an altogether different sort of skull - one wearing a hair bow - on her ankle.
Rihanna stars as US Navy officer Raikes in the film, which also stars Liam Neeson, Alexander Skaarsgard, Brooklyn Decker and Taylor Kitsch.

And it seems Rihanna's confidence paid off, as Battleship director Peter Berg raved about the singer's performance in the big-screen adventure during an interview with MTV News earlier this month.
He said: 'She was great. She has a very strong part. I was surprised no one had ever thought to hire Rihanna. I was a huge fan of her videos.
'Obviously she's sexy, but she had this real intensity. I'm like, "Someone's going to get her." '

Berg added: 'I've always believed in musicians as actors. I had great success with Tim McGraw in Friday Night Lights and The Kingdom. 'Musicians have been acting since Frank Sinatra won an Oscar for From Here to Eternity.
'Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, the late Whitney Houston, I thought, was tremendous in The Bodyguard. As recently as Mariah Carey in Precious, she was great.'
Battleship is due for release in the US on May 18.
